A Coffee Maven Listicle Link
I have not yet visited any of the cafés on the list below, even though they are only about 150 miles from my house (I have traveled MUCH farther than that for good coffee) and a friend of mine owns the first one (more on that below).
The article provides reviews of a half-dozen coffee shops in the popular lakes region of New Hampshire. I am posting it here in hopes that one or more of my Spring 2023 Secret Life of Coffee students will be in the area during the semester to add their own review(s).
Google Map by Ken MacGray for Only in Your State Not suitable for navigation -- click through to his NH Lakes Region coffee article for details |
Writer Ken MacGray reviews a half-dozen cafés in the area and provides navigation to each. For a real coffee-shop fiend, this trip should require more than the two hours calculated by Google. If anybody tries the whole route, please consider my advice to pace yourself. I included multiple-café crawls in my Coffee Week summer course a few times and can report that after the third café in a day, things can get blurry.
Seeing the list today reminds me that I am waaaay overdue to meet this friend in person. The proprietor of Lucas Coffee has been an online friend for many years -- we were introduced by a real-life friend we have in common -- but plans to connect in person have always been overtaken by events. The Coffee Maven can vouch for the coffee itself, though, because I have enjoyed several different roasts over the years, ordered online.
As I write this, I am working out plans for a February trek to Plymouth State University sometime in February, so I might finally get that cuppa in person!
